Filmstrip Video Player is a simple video playback app which
allows user to build filmstrip of the currently opened video without playback interruption.
Each slide within filmstrip can be saved as a file in the
variety of different graphic formats; each slide or even all slides can be removed from
filmstrip and all these slides manipulations don’t affect video playback.
All the slides within filmstrip are filtered by the
corresponding video frame time stamp; selected slides show their time stamp in red.
Plying back video can be positioned by the selected
within filmstrip slide.
Slides can be created manually from the current
video frame or automatically by assigning desirable slides amount or time interval
between slides and positioning precision; automatic slides creation can be stopped or cancelled.
Main (bottom) control bar visibility is controlled by right mouse
click (press and hold) on the app itself.

maximized, bar shows all the available controls,
when minimized, bar shows controls essential for playback only.
New file can be open any time.
On app start “Open File” button is blinking
in green - app is waiting for user to open video file.
App playback volume or/and mute can be controlled by corresponding button at any time even when media file isn’t opened, yet.
Here is the app Main (bottom) control bar control elements to

button is enabled as long as filmstrip contains at least one slide, this button toggles

To create single slide from the current
video frame just click (tap) “Slide” button.
To create one slide from the current video frame
just click “Slide” button.
To create several slides automatically
amount of slides or time interval between slides has to be selected using slider
which becomes visible after “Slides” button is activated. Minimum time interval
between slides is 1 second and maximum amount of slides filmstrip is allowed
to have is the app settings in the 16 – 256 range; by default this value is 64
and can be changed through “More” button.
App allows user to set the relative positioning
precision to create slide, this precision is calculated as a percent of the total
media file duration in the range 1 – 10% with default value 5%. In general,
the more accurate positioning requested, the more time it takes to create slide.
Created slides will be inserted to the
filmstrip in time stamp order.
Depending on slides amount, slides positioning precision
and system parameters creating slides automatically can take a while so progress
indicator is displayed.
Right mouse click (press and hold) on the progress
indicator displays popup menu to cancel (discarding all the slides created so far)
or stop (keeping slides created so far) automatic slides creation process.
Any amount of slides can be selected at a time by clicking
(tapping) on slides and using keyboard “Ctrl” or “Shift” keys as needed. Selected slides
show time stamp in red. Double click (double tap) on selected slide causes video playback
to position to the slide time stamp.
“Discard Selected” button removes selected slides
from filmstrip. Right mouse click (press and hold) on this button displays popup menu
to discard all the slides.
“Save Selected” button is enabled if single or multiple slides are
selected. App saves selected single slide as a file in the variety of different graphic formats. App also creates
slideshow or 30 FPS time-lapse video from multiple selected slides and saves it as a video file with format playable back almost everywhere.
Creating slideshow may take some time, app reports the progress of this process. User can play
back newly created slideshow. Click
to save slideshow as a video.
User can change two parameters of slideshow - each slide duration in seconds and size of the slide in pixels,
size can be reduced, only. Please note, by reducing slides size you are sacrificing slides quality for video file size. Click
to open settings window change these parameters and apply changes.
To create time-lapse video from the video you have opened just select all slides using
on the slides panel and corresponding check box on the settings panel, select video
quality and click Apply.
Needless to say, window with slideshow can be moved around and resized grabbing
